Advocacy in Colorado law and policy

CCDC advocates for disability rights and equity in all three branches of government.

At CCDC, the majority of our staff focus on advocating for disability rights and equity in Colorado’s state laws and policies. This type of advocacy is often referred to as “systems advocacy” or “systems-level advocacy” because we create change in large systems that affect thousands, if not millions, of people in our state. We accomplish systems-level advocacy by working in all three branches of government. This work is informed by a variety of information sources, including trends and patterns we see in our community members’ lived experience through individual assistance we provide and our civil rights legal program. Fee-based consulting and training services

One aspect of building a more equitable, accessible Colorado is ensuring our public and private entities are knowledgeable about the needs of our diverse populations. We are available for fee-based consulting and trainings for businesses, organizations, providers, and government entities that aim to become more accessible and inclusive of people with disabilities. Whether you are looking to increase your engagement with disabled people or you’d like to have a better understanding of the Americans with Disabilities Act, for example, we can offer solutions, many of which can be customized to your needs.
