Advanced Advocacy Training – Legal Process – The Impact on Disability
Monday – October 12, 2015
This training provides an advanced education opportunity for community activists or for those looking for additional skills necessary to work in the field of disability services, advocacy, community organizing, the legislative process, and civil rights law.
- School to Jail Pipeline – What is public education doing to our children with disabilities? Lack of compliance with IEP directives (Individual Education Plan) 18 year old students treated as adults by education and law enforcement.
- SB 118 – The Civil Rights Bill – How can Individuals with Disabilities recover losses due to non compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act - Impact Update.
- CORA (Colorado Open Records Act), Disability Accommodation Requests, Complaint/Grievance Procedure.
- Estate Planning: Trusts that can protect individuals with disabilities from loss of right to inheritance.

Pre Requisite: Applicants must hold the CCDC Introduction to Disability Advocacy Diploma or have equitable training and /or experience.
Class Registration Cost
Affiliate/organization cost - $150 per applicant (second applicant from same organization $75)
Non-Member Professionals - not Affiliated $225
CCDC Members – Meet pre requisite requirement and commit to the CCDC Volunteer/Advocacy Team (10 hours in the next 6 months) No Charge
Certification Criteria: Attendance 8 hr. class, successful completion of the class exam, participation in the assigned site visit (Carr Justice Center)
CCDC Certificate of Completion – No cost
