Fall 2015 Training Opportunity Announcement
CCDC Disability Advocacy Training
Colorado Cross-Disability Coalition (CCDC) and the University of Denver are
excited to offer a training and certification in Individual and Systems
Advocacy Certification Training.
The class includes 8 (3 hr.) sessions -Tuesdays – Sept 1, 2015- Oct 20, 2015 10:15AM-1:15PM
Focus will be on the following topics
· CCDC History, What about CCDC and General Advocacy
· Advocates navigating Local, State, and Federal Benefit Systems
· Disability Determination-Social Security (SSI and SSDI)
· Medicaid – Disability Eligibility & Determination - The Affordable Care Act and Health Equity
· Due Process and the Appeals Process for Benefits
· Community and Grass Roots Organizing, Nonprofit and Regulatory Boards, and The Legislative Process
· Education, Employment, Housing, Transportation, and Technology
· Effective Communication, Requesting Reasonable Accommodation (ADA)
When: Training will be conducted every Tuesday morning 10:15 AM-1:15PM (3hrs) Sept 2, 2015 – Oct 20, 2015
Location: The University of Denver, University Hall- Rm. #304, 2197 S. University Blvd. Denver Colorado. This training is a great education for community activists or for those looking for additional skills necessary to work in the field of disability services, advocacy, community organizing, the legislative process, or civil rights law.
Cost of Class: Free to CCDC members committed to the CCDC Volunteer/Advocacy Team-(120 hrs during the next 12 months) Affiliate organization representatives will be charged - $500 1st registrant - $250 for additional registrants with same organization.
Disability Advocacy Training - General – Attendance at all 8 sessions, pass/fail exam, and a field trip will qualify students to earn a CCDC Diploma
CCDC Diploma - no charge
Denver University now partners with the CCDC Advocacy Training Program by providing DU Continuing Education Units.
DU Continuing Education Units may be purchased at $25 per Credit Unit – the 8 week class qualifies for 3 Denver University CEU’s Certification
Please Note: A pre registration interview is required for the class.
Acceptance and willingness to undergo a criminal background check will be required to volunteer with the CCDC Advocacy Team.
The Basic Advocacy Class is limited to the first 15 registrants and the REGISTRATION DEADLINE is – Friday August 20, 2015

Note: Remote access for out of area members is not currently available and CCDC cannot reimburse any costs related to attendance for the 8 session class session.
