CitationLobato, et al. v. State of Colorado, et al., 2012SA25
CCDC joined The Legal Center Serving People with Disabilities and Older People and The Arc of Colorado in an amicus brief to address whether Colorado's public school system is funded in a manner rationally designed to meet the constitutional mandate to provide a thorough and uniform system of public education to all residents of the state, including students with disabilities?
Oral argument before the Colorado Supreme Court was held on Thursday, March 7, 2013. The Court took the case under advisement. We await a decision.
Despite great efforts of plaintiffs' counsel and all of the amicus assistance, the Colorado Supreme Court overturned the district court decision, holding that Colorado's public school funding scheme is constitutional. Particular thanks go to the law firm of Heizer, Paul, Grueskin LLP. Edward Ramey and Lila Bateman who authored the brief on behalf of CCDC and The Legal Center for People with Disabilities and Older People and Arc of Colorado.
